Artist ARTIST Profile: Sam Agro

Hello out there. My name is Sam Agro and I'm a writer and illustrator from Toronto Canada. I'm fairly new to the sketch card world, but so far I have created cards for 5Finity, Breygent, Rittenhouse and Perna Studios.

I currently have blank sketch cards available for commissions from Perna Studios Classic Mythology series, and from The Avengers series from Rittenhouse. I also have some return cards available from Breygent's Vampirella set.

Here are some samples of the work:

Cool work Sam. You have that "old school" look

What can I say, Lak? I'm an old guy, so my stuff has an old-school look.

Thanks,

Sam

Nice work Sam. Your work reminds me of the kind of style that would make for super great tattoo art for some reason.

Question, the SketchaFEX card you have displayed in your 1st post, are those cards larger than normal 2.5" x 3.5" cards?

Those are Rittenhouse's uncut Artist Proof Cards and measures 4"x5". Thats how they send out all their cards to artists. Only they tell us to draw within the guidelines they have where the card would be cut. Collectors like them because you can get more art on the card. Also a person can have it sent back to Rittenhouse to have it cut to standard 2.5"x3.5" card size if they want. I've done that myself since some collectors don't like collecting the larger size. I draw on it as I would for any of the Rittenhouse sets and send it in to get cut after I finish the commission. However, it can take awhile to get them back.

Yes, Havlock, as Lak has already pointed out, the cards are 4x5 inches, uncut. Some collectors seem to like them trimmed, others like them big. I happy either way, if it makes a sale.

Sam Argo

good to see you on the forums Sam !!

I also live in Toronto and have seen Sam at various shows
even have a few sketches done by him

I was presently surprised to pull one of his sketches in the Perna Mythology sets
and have since picked up a few more

including one of his artist proofs - which I show the step by step workings of on my website
http://www.collectablechris.com/perna-studios.html
(bottom of the page)

this was the best artist experience I have ever had
and am extremely happy with the final product
and highly recommend Sam's work to everyone
- get them now, before he becomes too busy to do commissions

I am looking forward to finding more of Sam's work in upcoming releases
- please keep us informed on what you have coming out

It was tough getting all those dragon heads on one tiny sketch card, but I think it turned out pretty well.
